Evan Malik, a securities broker currently employed by CRT Capital Group in Stamford, Connecticut, has over 22 years of experience in the Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) industry. Malik earned his Bachelor of Economics in 1989 from Colgate University, a highly selective liberal arts school in Hamilton, New York. After graduation, Evan Malik entered the securities industry at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, where he sold Mortgage- and Asset-Backed Securities (MBS/ABS). After eight years with the firm, he had sold the full range of ABS products and MBS products with Tier 1 accounts.
Over the next 11 years, Malik achieved excellent results at several different investment banking firms. At Greenwich Capital Markets, he was one of the top annual producers covering Tier 1 accounts. In 2008, during the height of the financial crisis, he took a position at Braver Stern Securities, LLC, based in New York.
At Braver Stern, Evan Malik and his partners raised necessary equity capital. He served on the Board of Directors and the Management Committee. Along with his partners, he created the institutional Mortgage Broker/Dealer Platform and hired 48 employees.
Malik joined MF Global Holdings in 2011 after the firm offered him the opportunity to build an MBS sales and trading group from the ground up. He leveraged his industry connections and hired 25 senior-level staff members. At MF Global, Malik continued to manage the accounts of institutional clients such as banks, hedge funds, and real estate investment trusts.
